White Frosting Recipe

White Frosting

1/3 cup tap water
2 TB meringue powder
6 cups sifted powdered sugar (4 and 2)
1 cup shortening* or white margarine
Or 1/2 butter and 1/2 shortening

Combine water and meringue powder, whip on med speed until foamy. Add 4 cups of sugar, 1/2 cup at a time and beating well each addition. Increase the speed to high until peaks form, lower the speed add the softened butter or shortening and the remainder sugar. Keep beating on low until smooth. Makes 3 1/2 cups.

Note: To make chocolate flavour, just add 1/2 cup of melted unsweetened chocolate. Let the chocolate cool down a while, then add it to the recipe. Add flavor to this recipe to create a new look or taste on the cake presentations. Choices of flavor are: lemon, strawberry, raspberry, coconut, caramel, etc....

Always cover the frosting with damp towel when it is not in use. Because the frosting will get crusty and you will have problem to frost the cake.
