Nasi Putih/ Plain White Rice
Nasi Putih, Indonesian Rice Recipes:
Nasi or Rice cooked every day. Usually every household cooked the rice in the morning for breakfast and lunch,
and one more time in the evening for dinner. Indonesian prefer the rice to be soft and kind of sticky. Some people
prefer the rice to be sticky and soft (nasi pulen) and some people prefer the rice to be little bit separate
(nasi pera') The way my Dad preferred was, the rice should be soft but not too much water. The rest of the family
prefer the rice to be soft and sticky. On the other hand ...I was never a good rice cooker. My rice always came out
funky. But he liked my Sambal. Well... it is way different now, I even know how to cook rice in many different ways. "Selamat Menikmati..."

3 cups jasmine rice
3 cups water
4 TB oil
Wash the rice 3 times and soak in water for about 2 hours. Drain the water, put the rice in the
rice cooker. Add the water and the oil and cook until done. When the button click, open the lid, stir the rice
carefully so the grain won't break and close the lid. Leave it for another 15 minutes before serving.
Chef's Note: Sometimes, long grain rice need more water than the jasmine kind. Long grain rice, whenever I cook I put about 1/2
cup more water and 2 TB more oil in it. It comes drier then the jasmine kind. I even soaked in water longer, usually over night.
