For Lunch the vendor we called Warung Nasi, Warung Tegal or Rumah Makan. They usually open around 10 am until 2 pm. Then they will open again in the afternoon around 3 pm until 10 pm. At night there will be vendor pushing their cart going around the street offering their famous Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice) or Mie goreng (Fried Noodle). They have their own special call for what they are selling. Some of them hit the bottom of their wok using the chopstick, some of them have made a special resounding wooden signal that they hit using smaller wood.
There are many different ways of preparing Nasi Goreng. The only constant ingredients is rice and everything else is
determined by the availability of ingredients, the cook's even the costumer. Nasi Goreng can even be vegetarian,
if you learn how to prepare them, you will master it.
I have here a creations of the famous Nasi Goreng "Fried Rice" from one of the vendors and I also have variety of
Nasi Goreng creations that my family enjoyed and so will you.
