Indonesian Appetizers
Indonesian Appetizers / Snacks Recipes:
Most Indonesian eat meal twice a day but don't we love to snack. Usually in the morning we have breakfast rice item
like Nasi Uduk (Coconut MIlk Rice), Bubur Ayam (Chicken Porridge), Lontong Sayur (Pressed Rice & Vegetable Broth) even
some sweet like Pisang Goreng (Banana Fritters), Lupis (Pressed Sweet Rice) and almost all the traditional sweet and
savoury snacks. Accompanying breakfast we always have either sweet tea (Teh Manis), Milk Coffee (Kopi Susu) or just plain
dark coffee (Kopi Tubruk) After breakfast, everybody do the thing they have to do and comes lunch we have what we brought
from home or we bought it in the morning or just buy from the vendor, the stall or hawker where ever available.
By the time we got home it will be time for afternoon snacks. Another tea or coffe with savoury or sweet snacks. Plenty
of choice from the vendors or hawkers offering their specialities. From Mie Bakso, Siomay or Batagor even just variety
of fried both sweet and sauvory snacks. Then we wash it down with variety of cold drink like Es Cendol, Es Campur,
Es Teler, Es Sekoteng and many Es this or Es that. Es mean Ice. Oh...I will have the recipes later also.
Most of us have dinner after sunsets pray. Now you see what I'm talking about. Everything is depending
on the mood. What westerners might consider dessert, we Indonesian eat as snack troughout the day. When you decided to
have a party and you want to serve some of the recipes from this snack page, you can have the savoury snacks as your
appetizer and the sweet snacks or the traditional sweets as your desserts. Or what ever you are in the mood for.
